April 11, 2018 STAAR Test Edition

I got some thangs to say...there is an overwhelming amount of things to say so I will spread this out for the next few days.

1. I have been through the hell of testing part one. Between yesterday and today I had to watch 26 kids take a test. No technology at all and I had to "actively monitor" which means pace...for 4 HOURS.

2. Shoutout to my administration for making this testing smooth though. They thought of everything and it is greatly appreciated.

3. On Monday, I had a light review and we turned up for the rest of class. There was no point in stressing over the test. Cramming doesn't work but self-esteem and confidence goes a long way so we turned up and we were lit.

4. My Principal said that she wasn't worried. She could sleep easy at night because she knew that we taught everything we could to the best of our abilities. We'll take the test and see the gaps fill them in and keep it moving. I love her so much. If she's not worried, I'm not either.

5. Testing is so important because you can lose your license over it. So it's imperative to pay attention to announcements and emails. Captain Oblivious did not. Of course. Using the wrong timers and stuff still on his walls. Now I see why we have to have face to face meetings.

6. McDonald's haters. ...yes I get it. It's crap. I don't eat it but get off of your high horse. "Why would parents feed their kids that crap. I would rather starve..." Because most kids are impoverished or straddling the line. They come to school to eat ( food that is mad for prisons as well Aramark, Good Source, etc all have contracts with prisons AND schools. That school to prison pipeline sure got shorter) and for testing they get a free luxury item for them. Let them have that. Since starving is just a choice for you, next testing cycle go stand outside a school and give away some "non-crap" breakfast for free then.

7. Let's end on a funny note...so we are in silence for 4 hours. These kids will find any reason to talk.
Someone sneezes....
"God bless you."
"Thank You."
"You're welcome."
"Are you ready for Jehovah's return?"

Ok so maybe not that last line but these kids are real polite when they are limited to silence.
