1. May Events: Awards Night, End of Year Celebration, STAAR Saturday, Algebra EOC, STAAR Interventions, STAAR Re-Test, STAAR Test, Prom, Finals....TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK
1a. These are the events at my school. Other schools are at least have the celebrations and STAAR tests...kids are tired and overwhelmed. Teachers are overwhelmed.
1b. These are things that are JUST from work. Not anything to do with my home or personal life. Not all of of these things I will be adequately compensated for, if at all.
2. I still can't believe a teacher asked when we would be doing observations....like dude we were almost in the clear....
3. You can't cut corners with staff at a school. Just because a student to teacher/principal/counselor ratio is allowed by the state doesn't mean you should aways lean toward that ratio. You need more staff to reach more kids and close the cracks that they fall through.
4. Administration...way up high get compensated based on "responsibility" not on what they actually do. If you can just pass the buck down to your subordinates and fire them if they don't do what you should have done...crazy man.
5. I have to do interventions for the students who failed the Math STAAR. I have the lowest of the low and we are livin' on a prayer lol. A team member so graciously gave up her conference and split her class up to assist with these precious adolescents. Captain Oblivious has taken it upon himself to act like a 14 year old babysitter and sit up on his phone and talk all day long. It is the running joke of the hallway. We sit and look at him do it. Does he care? Nope. Does it matter that most of his kids are in this group? Nope. Is he assisting in any way? Nope. Is he planning for next year? Nope. Is he making a review for the final or the final itself? Nope.
5a. This experience has been like a year long college group project. I'm over it.
5b. If you know of anyone that wants to teach 7th or 8th grade math please DM resumes....
5c. Please review my teacher observations prior to this...think about my temperament, work ethic and my middle-class yet pockets of heathen school before referring just anybody.
