1. My principal got us a shirt...and I can wear jeans tomorrow. I let her know jeans we can now wear jeans until we get out because of STAAR and finals. I don't even need to wait for the weekly bulletin. #theendisnear
2. The kids feel the end is near as well and have gotten all out of pocket and telling me about these fake beefs and unnecessary drama which I don't care about BUT they are giving all the good tea and the revisionist history on some things and I love that after hearing all of the drama I can finally piece together the truth.
2a. I am also finding out about all the crushes. I really want the boys to learn and gain substance in dating other than "finesse". Not Bruno Mars like spitting game but like somebody told them they were cute one time, have nice hair or are decent at a sport and why would a girl not like that? Girls as always....SELF-ESTEEM! You don't have to do anything you don't want to, your worth is not based on how many dudes like you. At this age the boys fawn over the same 3 girls so the odds are not in your favor. Let's work on skills and building ourselves up and finding redeeming qualities we like in ourselves and other people friends or otherwise.
3. One of my student is in Cancun. Who am I to judge? I want to be there too. She did all her work BEFORE she left so I hope she is enjoying herself!
4. Submission: I don't understand why elementary schools are sharing a principal.
5. Male Principals....sometimes, rarely you'll get a Ron Clarke type..full of engagement and love. Most times you'll get laid back hands off which is great. You get to do what you want when you want, no real pushback or direction or anything really. A true free for all. Until something happens...then they come in with all these rules out of the blue, let people gossip to them and rather than just draw a line in the sand of their own opinion they get to making moves based on the gossip, and are very reactive. It really is the stereotypical workplace version of the Dad sitting in front of the TV yelling "Hey" into the other room when the kids start fighting. This is shitty leadership and causes more chaos than it should.
6. This time of year teachers and staff interact with students they might not have because of testing, interventions, etc. It's funny because these teachers always come back like "these kids are bad as shit. They are crazy as hell!" Then you have to be like "Yes! I've been saying this all year! Did you think I was lying???"
