Finally I have returned fully. Just had to get reacclimated to school.  1. Ya'll....the lady...got 2..two..TWO of the brand new TI Nspire Calcuators stolen from her class. They retail at $140....ma'am. 1a. I don't feel bad because she is not all there...also she keeps calling me a broke hoe because she can print from home and her CEO husband steals toner from work so she ca n print these copies that can be done at school on her office copier that she has at home. 1b. She voted for Trump and told me Obamacare was awful 2. My first two classes are the bomb but the second class is my fav. They are a bunch of NERDS! I've found my people. They were down to jam the 80s playlist too! I'm touched. 2a. My last class....whew chile THE GHETTO! Not really but they talk too damn much! 3. Submission: If the power goes out at your school during August in the Texas...Everybody should go home immediately! It was 103 yesterday with a heat index of hell and you made teachers and stude...

August 18, 2018 Submission

Teacher Walkthrough: Submission (Full Observations are returning but then school is in session and it has kinda gotten in the way..) Elementary dismissal is real strict because you have the kids running around willy nilly with stranger danger at every turn. (Reason 387 why I teach middle school. Just herd those kids like cattle out the door and hope for the best) Anywho...a mom assigned a dad to  do something responsible with the child (idk why she did that) concerning dismissal. Dad says that child is a biker for the first two weeks and then daycare for the rest of the year. Dismissal comes around and......NO BIKE. Dad forgot to bring it for the kid to ride home. Kids freaking out, Teachers like it's listed biker...Kids like my mom said clearly to go to Daycare (makes no mention of ff Dad and this bike business)....it was quickly resolved with a phone call and kid did get to daycare. There are clearly some parental communication issues but dude...c'mon Dad. You could have at l...

July 12, 2018 Summer School Edition

I finally got paid and had a vacation so now I can post.  1. Summer school never sneaks up on people...your child was failing or borderline failing the entire year.  1a. No, I don't care about your family reunion/vacation/child going to their other parents house...I'm sorry you have to pay for it...take up this issue with your child for not doing wha t they needed to do during the school year and messing up the family funds/vacation. 2. Having to pay for summer school has it's pros and cons and can negatively affect some students but for those bad ones it catches...amen. 3. Taking an hour off of the school day and calling it summer school is for the birds....4 hours max...and only the subject kids need. 4. Paying me for summer school in one lump sum...AFTER summer school is over so I can be taxed to death is cruel and unusual punishment. 5. Asking for additional work from summer school teachers is......there are a plethora of online programs that parents can use AND the lib...

June 5, 2018: Summer Vacation

My summer vacation is basically over. I was off Friday, Monday and today. Work begins again for me tomorrow. I have observed some things from the real world that I have missed being in the classroom for 10 months so of course I would share. 1. I "worked" during my three days of vacation. I can't help it. Maybe that is passion. 2. People are asking their wed ding party to provide the liquor for the wedding rather than have an open bar. The ghetto *Nene Leakes voice* 3. I like to get in the zone and work with music but sitting in silence is golden. You can't know your self if you always need noise to function. 4. People that keep the volume up on their phones are wild. My phone stays on silence so I'm never obligated by a ding or bell. Not feeling myself because to each their own BUT TURN THAT MESS OFF IN PUBLIC. I hate hearing obnoxious buzzing and dinging while I'm trying to enjoy natural sounds. This woman just let her phone ring multiple times on the highest...

May 24, 2018

1. Some people are against finals in middle school but I have come to enjoy them. Due to testing in the Spring finals are a bit of a farce so they can be a bit of fun and it's party time AND most importantly early dismissal. 2. Teacher turnover just happens, the nature of the job. Sometimes it's good riddance for people, others it's just finding a better fit and then some pe ople you are disappointed are leaving. Now people are getting shifted and new hires...I had a real strong shit-talking crew and I hate that we are being broken up. 3. Parents are doing the fool. Your child is failing. They failed the STAAR, they failed the first six weeks, barely passed the semester.YOUR CHILD FAILED MULTIPLE CLASSES. Summer school in play. Yes you knew...don't act brand new. Talk to your kid. Talk to yourself. I'm sorry you're moving, kid is going to a far away land for the summer...if these were the plans then you and your child should have been on the same accord. 4. Cap...

May 21, 2018 End of Year Edition

1. My head is literally spinning from the amount of end of year Monday this was. 2. There were 2 fights and kids attempted to set a teacher's hair on fire...( not mine because....we would have all been on the news)...kids wearing whatever they want..pajamas, fashionnova dresses...bringing what they shouldn't to school..meltdowns like no other l ike day-long meltdowns... 3. One of my students is suspended from alternative....like how do you get suspension squared. Reason: She skipped after taking the STAAR test last week. Went to lunch with everybody. Walked the halls then dipped. Wild. She got sent there for skipping so why would you let her roam around free? 4. My former students from last year...mannnnnn 4a. One girl has pissed everybody off so much that she is going to be jumped by at least 3 different people. She ran to her mama's car as quickly as possible. I mean she has to come to school for the rest of the week so...she lived to escape another day I guess? I have a ...

1. Submission: A student wrote the lyrics to Havana on a writing prompt. This was a district benchmark BUT can these kids really be trusted in proving me as an effective teacher? I mean would you assume that I taught about Cuba and East Atlanta in my class...during social studies perhaps instead of how to write an essay? 2. We have been testing all week...I'm not sure that p eople truly understand the problems with testing but only see the shitty statistics afterwards like achievement gaps, school to prison pipeline due to their 3rd grade tests and such so I have supplied some visuals... 2a. The first picture details the scores needed to pass this years 5th and 8th grade reading and mathematics test. Note that the other spaces are blank because this year a new testing company (ETS) created their interpretation of a STAAR test and we needed to see how kids did before setting a goal AND Harvey did put a wrench in things Texas Education Agency waited to collect the data before posting...
